Andy Lawson wins Voice Tracker of the Year for 2021

The annual award, created by Voicetrackerhub and supported by RCS, celebrates the world’s greatest voice-tracking talent.

Andy said “I am delighted and a little overwhelmed to be awarded the Voice Tracker of the Year Award 2021. This has been a long time goal of mine and I am honoured to have been so highly thought of this year.

It is especially significant as the last couple of years have brought much turmoil and uncertainty to our lives. Radio had to adapt quickly to respond to the crisis and as an industry, we should be very proud that we were able to remain the constant in people’s lives that was so desperately needed in a very changeable world.

With so much change in the way that radio is produced, more and more of us have developed the skills needed to voice track remotely.  To win the Voice Tracker of the Year award, at a time where so many great broadcasters have been working from home and creating incredible radio, is an unbelievable achievement.

I have worked with some hugely talented people during the last twelve months without whom I would not be in such a fortunate position.  I would like to thank all those at Like Media Group, who have helped me to create so many great memories with Pop DAB, all at Charitable Radio who had a vision to create a station designed to spread news of charities and their supporters and everyone else who has supported me throughout my career. For many years, I have sought opportunities to broadcast in North America and hope that this award takes me one step closer to that aim.

I could not be prouder of the work that I create as part of some wonderful teams. To win this award in such challenging times is truly an honour and has reaffirmed my belief that radio is still a vital channel of communication in this ever changing world.”

This year’s award was judged by International Audio Consultant Francis Currie along with Managing Director of RCS in the UK Jon Earley and US TV and Radio personality Shelley Wade.

Commenting on Andy’s entry, Francis said “Andy has a confident and friendly style. Equally at-home handling personal reveals, local information or music knowledge, his impressive preparation & spontaneous performance are a killer combination.”

You can hear Andy each week on PopDAB and Charitable Radio in the UK and Fresh Radio in Spain.
